Fatherhood First

The FatherhoodFirst.org project was made possible through funding from the United States Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families Office of Head Start.

Our mission is to help fathers develop positive relationships with their children and to help them understand the importance of their presence in the lives of their children.

At Fatherhood First we offer father/child activities (both in group and individual settings), one-on-one case management classes for new and expectant fathers and male involvement meetings to families within our community. FatherhoodFirst.org makes these same resources and activities available to Head Start programs nationwide through more than 300 downloadable files that can be used during staff trainings or offered to fathers as a take-home activities to do with their children.

Youth & Family Services

Youth & Family Services is a nonprofit organization that has been serving children and their families since 1965. YFS has grown to become one of the largest, most comprehensive youth development programs in western South Dakota. What began as Girls Club of Rapid City has grown to encompass seven cohesive programs that offer education, meals and snacks, health advocacy and support, education, and prevention programs for more than 11,000 children and their families in 24 western South Dakota counties annually.
